Brother Michael was a Monk serving in a monastic order in 3262.
Under the leadership of Brother Alwyn, the order was dedicated to finding and preserving lost knowledge, specifically relating to technology dating to the period pre-burn as well as the myths and legends of the Rangers, Babylon 5 and Lorien. Unbeknownst to Brother Michael, the order was a front for the Anla'shok, who returned to Earth in secret to help the planet and society rebuild.
In 3262, he suffered a brief crisis of faith regarding the Rangers and the ancient stories. Brother Alwyn helped him through it and believed Michael to be a good candidate to eventually be recruited into the Anla'shok.[1]
