Baseball is a game originating from Earth. It is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of nine players each who take turns batting and fielding.
The offense attempts to score runs by hitting a ball that is thrown by the pitcher with a bat swung by the batter, then running counter-clockwise around a series of four bases: first, second, third, and home plate. A run is scored when a player advances around the bases and returns to home plate.[1]

After Mars was colonized, a baseball team was formed there as well. Because Martian gravity was 40 percent less than Earth normal, the ball traveled faster and further, which some say skewed the results.
There was a baseball diamond on Babylon 5 in Red Sector that Sheridan and Garibaldi used in 2259.[1]
Carlos Ramirez was convinced that the Dodgers would never make it to the World Series. Michael Garibaldi and Stephen Franklin bet him 30 credits that Mars would be swept, 4-0.[2]
