David Sheridan was a human farmer and Earth Alliance diplomat, the husband of Miranda Sheridan and the father of Elizabeth and John Sheridan.

[edit] History

David Sheridan served as a diplomat for EarthGov for many years, but his real passion seemed to be in farming. He owned an orange orchid when John was growing up.[1]

The day before his entrance exams for Earthforce Academy, John had trouble falling to sleep. Knowing his son had an easier time falling to sleep when it rained, David went outside and sprayed water from a garden hose on the roof until John fell asleep.[2]

Before Babylon 5 secedes from the Earth Alliance, David is contacted by his son and is reminded of a lesson taught to him: "Never start a fight, always finish it." John warns him that President Clark's forces may come for David and Miranda, and David explains he understands they will have to go into hiding, but John should not worry about them.[3]

During the rest of the Earth Alliance Civil War the Sheridans went into hiding so that they would not be targeted by Clark's forces. David is able to successfully evade Clark's forces for many months. Due to a rare blood disease, however, David requires the Centauri drug Tenasticin. When this information is leaked to Clark's men, David was tracked down and captured. Miranda was able to escape and hide with friends in Minneapolis. David was used to lure John Sheridan away from the battle long enough to be captured by Clark-loyalists.[4]

After the civil war, David was freed and was reunited with his son. He also met Delenn, who married John a few days later.[5]
