Roger Sterns was captain of the EAS Lexington.

Cpt. Roger Sterns was the commanding officer of the EAS Lexington during the Earth-Minbari War. He was deeply troubled by the early reports about the Minbari's overwhelming firepower, and about how the Minbari were offering no quarter to any humans. While on patrol in deep space, the Lexington and several other ships were lured into an ambush by Black Star. The Lexington was badly damaged, and Sterns was killed outright when a large support beam comes loose and smashes into the command chair. His second-in-command John Sheridan assumed command of the ship and managed to destroy the Black Star. [1]
