The Coming of Shadows was a Hugo Award-winning episode which acted as the mid-season climax of the second season of Babylon 5. The episode's primary storyline follows the Centauri Emperor Turhan's visit to the Babylon 5 station, and G'Kar's attempt to assassinate him. Two side-arcs deal with Londo's further entrenchment with Mr. Morden and The Shadows and a communication between a mysterious visitor to the station and Mr. Garibaldi.

[edit] Memorable Quotes
- "So much has been lost. So much forgotten. So much pain. So much blood, and for what? The past tempts us, the present confuses us, the future frightens us and our lives slip away moment by moment, lost in that vast terrible in-between. But there is still time to seize that one last fragile moment, to choose something better. To make a difference, as you say."
- – Centauri Emperor Turhan
[edit] Notes
This episode, much like Signs and Portents from the first season, is the turning point for its season. The story-lines which it touches on include:
- The growing influence of The Shadows
- G'Kar's continued character transformations (in this episode his need for revenge nearly destroys him)
- Londo's continued character transformations (in this episode he further indebts himself to the Shadows and in so doing places himself on his path toward the throne)
- The revelation of the Rangers and Garibaldi's link to them
- Kosh's enigmatic two-word prophesy, "in fire," foreshadows a number of different events including the attack on the Narn homeworld and the ultimate detonation of the Babylon 5 station.
- The beginning of the Narn-Centauri War
