"No one ever listens to Zathras. "Quite mad," they say. It is good that Zathras does not mind. He's even grown to like it. Oh, yes."

Zathras is a humanoid of unknown origin who, along with his nine brothers, takes care of the Great Machine on Epsilon III. They are all named Zathras, but with minute differences in pronunciation.[1]

He was first encountered on Babylon 4 and again when Jeffrey Sinclair returned to that station with the purpose of stealing it.[2]

He stayed behind with Sinclair on the journey back to use Babylon 4 as a base of operations during the last Great War, 1000 years in the past.[3]

Although Zathras mostly lived on Epsilon III, helping Draal take care of the Great Machine, the actual homeworld of Zathras' species (along with their own race name) was never revealed.

Though he initially appears as a silly and somewhat clumsy creature, Zathras was very dedicated and loyal to the cause as well as wise and technically proficient. His most repeated phrase is "no one listens to Zathras".

He is depicted as a bit of a simpleton and will tend to talk a lot.
